Sol Kadi (Kadhi) or Kokum Kadi is a very healthy and delicious post meal drink. Extremely popular in Goa and the Konkan region of India, it is made from coconut milk and kokum, also known as Aamsol. Most of the Malvani Restaurants in Mumbai as well as in other cities serve Sol Kadi as part of their Thali and separately as well.

Sol Kadi has many health benefits and is often had after meals for its digestive properties. Goans and Konkans are very fond of eating and this drink acts as a digestive and a cooler post that sumptuous meal.

There are a couple of ways the way Kokum is added to the drink. Few people soak it in water for sometime while some boil the Kokum before squeezing it in the coconut milk. We know of people who also add buttermilk to the Sol Kadi make it more tasty and healthy.

You can prepare the coconut milk at home or can get it from a store. We would highly recommend homemade coconut milk for its freshness and flavor. You can also add Tadka to the Kadi if you wish to have it with rice (Kadi Rice). The tadka would be a Jeera and Dried Red Chilli Tadka.

Lets see how to make this mouth watering digestive kadi or kadhi.
